Patient presented with a severe breakdown of his teeth. From just visibly looking at the patient’s mouth, a premature diagnosis would have called from the removal of all the broken teeth. Fortunately for our patient, after Dr. Navarro reviewed the digital radiographs of the patient, he witnessed long, strong roots for most of the broken down teeth. Dr. Navarro’s experienced showed him that many of these teeth could be saved using root canals, and posts. This saved the patient from having numerous teeth extracted and dental implants placed.
Due to severity of dentition breakdown, rebuilding the patient’s smile required steps that aren’t usually taken. Typically, an impression of the original teeth is taken, a model is poured up, and wax is used to redesign the teeth and add where necessary. This time there were not teeth available for our lab to adjust and add wax to. Instead, Dr. Navarro needed to precisely measure where the teeth SHOULD be using various reference points in the patient’s mouth to guide the construction of his new smile. At this point, using the numerous pieces of information that Dr. Navarro gathered, a lab technician designed a preliminary of set of new teeth. From this initial model, Dr. Navarro created a set of temporaries for the patient and made numerous adjustments to form the teeth to the patient. This is only the first step towards providing this patient with a beautiful new smile.
